Camila Mendes of Riverdale fame, recently took a break from that show’s busy shooting schedule to have a little fun being featured in The Chainsmokers most recent music video for the track ‘Side Effects’. In the video directed by Matthew Dillon-Cohen, Mendes gets a call from her boss at a Los Angeles hotel that she will have to work throughout the weekend. Being that she is already in uniform at the job when she gets the call, the implication is that she has already been pulling a long shift. Well, after momentarily showing her disappointment, Mendes makes the most of it and decides to dance throughout the halls of the hotel. Her moves are positively charming, much like many of us have done at one time or another in the mirror while singing along to a favorite song. After playfully teasing a guard, the video culminates in her taking a dip in the hotel pool and then walking (home, presumably?) as the sun begins to rise. Good thing she still has Riverdale because she is probably fired from this hotel gig. The Chainsmokers make a brief appearance during a panning shot that takes a peak at guests down a row of rooms.
The Chainsmokers are a hugely successful DJ and production duo originating out of New York City. They have scored a boatload of hits and have racked up an impressive number of awards including a Grammy for Best Dance Recording for their track ‘Don’t Let Me Down’ in 2017. ‘Side Effects’ is their fifth single of 2018 in advance of their highly-anticipated second full-length album. Their first proper full-length, ‘Memories…Do Not Open’, was released through Disruptor Records and Columbia Records. It debuted at number one on the Billboard 200, so expectations for the full-length follow-up (after their recent ‘Sick Boy’ EP) are at a fever pitch.
