An Overview of Eric Lefkofsky’s Leadership and Academic Achievements

Eric Lefkofsky is a well-known executive in research and business circles. According to 4-Traders, Lefkosfsky holds several high ranking designations, including Chairman of Groupon, Director at Orange Media and Managing Director at Lightbank, LLC. He is the Cofounder of Uptake Technologies, Mediaocean, Tempus Health and InnerWorkings. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of several entities, including Sprout Social, Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago, CarCo Technologies, Lefkosfsky Family Foundation and The Museum of Science and Industry among other establishments. Lefkofsky started out in business from a very humble beginning. In 1993, he partnered with Brad Keywell, a good college friend to establish Brandon Apparel with money sought from friends and family.

In 2001, Eric Lefkosfsky established InnerWorkings to offer print procurement services to various mid-size companies. InnerWorkings grew very fast, a few years after its founding. In November 2011, with Lefkofsky guidance and leadership, Groupon became one of the biggest US Web companies after it raised $700 million in another successful IPO. During the same year, the 46 year old US entrepreneur was named one of the new billionaires by Forbes. Elsewhere, the tech outfit Tempus Health, where Lefkofsky serves as the company Cofounder and CEO has developed a cancer fighting operating system.

The Tempus genomic sequencing services, which bases its foundations on therapeutic and molecular data is also designed to help physician make data driven decisions in real-time. The company’s overall goal is to treat patients and offer valuable information to help advance cancer research in the future. According to, Lefkofsky is also at the forefront of supporting science and education through his numerous philanthropic efforts. He established a charitable trust called Lefkosfsky Foundation in 2006 along with his wife Elizabeth to support various educational and scientific organizations around the globe.

According, Lefkosfsky currently serves as an Adjunct Professor at the prestigious University of Chicago School of Business, where he teaches several disciplines including entrepreneurship. He also teachers at other institutions of higher learning, including Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management and the Kellstadt Graduate School of Business at DePaul University. Lefkofsky studied and graduated from the University of Michigan. It is also here that he obtained his Juris Doctor at the university’s school of law. Lefkosfsky has also published several globally acclaimed works such as the book titled Lefkofsky Accelerated Disruption, which details the role of technology in everyday business.
